Facebook Messenger
Messenger integration uses the same Meta Graph API as Instagram. If you connected an Instagram account already, enabling Messenger on the same Facebook Page is one click.
Requirements
- A Facebook Page you administer.
- You are an admin (not just an editor) on the page.
Connect
- Open /dashboard/settings → Integrări → Messenger.
- If you already connected Instagram, the same Facebook OAuth permissions cover Messenger — pick the page and click Enable Messenger.
- If this is your first Meta integration, run the OAuth flow as documented in Instagram → Connect. Grant
pages_messagingin addition to the IG scopes. - The platform subscribes the page to the Messenger webhook.
Webhook
Meta sends Messenger events to POST /v1/webhooks/messenger. Same dedup, same signature verification, same dispatch into processInboundMessage() as Instagram.
Differences from Instagram
- Visitor identity is the user's
page-scoped id(PSID), not a public handle. - Quick replies can be rendered as Messenger buttons (the agent decides; currently treated as plain text).
- Persistent menu can be configured on the page side; not yet exposed in the dashboard.
- Reply window: Meta gives 24 hours after the user's last message for "standard messaging". Outside the window, only specific tags work (account_update, post_purchase_update, etc.) — not yet supported in Neofir.
Required env vars
Same as Instagram. The OAuth scope difference is handled by the OAuth flow at connect time.
Testing in Dev Mode
Until App Review, only users in the testers role can DM your page through the agent. Add your own Facebook account as a tester to test end-to-end.
